Tonia Maglione is an immigration attorney and immigrant herself. She is originally from Naples, Italy. In 2016, she moved to the United States after meeting her husband, a U.S. Navy active-duty member. In 2019, she graduated from Wake Forest School of Law with an LL.M. in American Law.
During law school, she was the only LL.M. student recognized as a Pro Bono Honor Society Member. Her exemplary contributions to the community through leadership and intellectual curiosity resulted in Tonia being one of three graduating students recognized with the Dean’s award. Tonia was also extraordinarily engaged in professional activities at the law school and in the legal community. She paid her own expenses to travel to Texas as a pro bono volunteer for detained asylum-seeking families.
After graduating from Wake Forest, Tonia has accumulated significant professional experience. For over three years, she worked as an immigration paralegal assisting a solo immigration practitioner on a wide range of immigration cases. She is a genuinely compassionate person, having worked through the immigration and naturalization process for herself. Indeed, she became an American citizen in 2019. This compassion has shown up in a range of volunteer activities she has undertaken to assist migrants in preparing for naturalization and in knowing their legal rights and responsibilities in the U.S. She taught civic class to lawful permanent residents eligible to naturalize.
Upon becoming a license attorney, Tonia joined a law firm where she worked tirelessly representing clients in removal proceeding, detained, and before USCIS. She sharpened her leadership skills while training and guiding six immigration paralegals. She understands the importance of getting into the trenches with her clients and tenaciously fighting for them.
Outside of her work as an immigration attorney, Tonia is a Guardian Ad Litem Advocate Volunteer and has been advocating for the best interests of more than 13 abused and neglected children, several of whom have since found permanence.
Tonia speaks Italian, Spanish, and English. She has a communication knowledge of Portuguese.
Tonia is licensed to practice in the State of South Carolina. She also held a Master Degree in Italian and International Law.
